Yo yo, I just bought a 2002 Civic LX and was wondering where you guys would suggest I start with performance modifications. Looking for some inexpensive increases in power...

I wolud say sell it and buy a older civic=) hehe but if your happy with it then I would look around for intake and exhuast check out many of the webpages out there keep in mind honda redid the whole engine layout in the new civics so parts are nothing like 2000 and under cars not anywhere near as many
I have seen a video of a turbo 2001 civic so if you have the money I guess you could always custom build a setup =) check out www.modacar.com for starters see what they have for it if anything Jeff |

Welcome to the land of new civics, I have a 2002 civic ex and love it more than life. I bought an AEM short stack intake. You cant slam a cold air into the new civics (yet) unless it is manual and mine is auto but who cares. Tanabe makes a cat-back for it and APC makes tight ass c/f tails. DC has a set of stainless or ceramic headers for our cars.
And its not performance but WW makes a stylish body kit with flares and the whole bit, to see these items and where to purchase go to www.modacar.com they have a good amount of stuff. Since the fact remains that our cars are brand new there are not a huge amount of aftermarket parts but they are comin out with shit all the time. HOpe that helps |

yeah, the engine went from a 1.6L to a 1.7L.. been noticing that they're aren't many parts for the 2002 models yet. but in a way that's a good thing because it just allows for me to save up even more money.
i'm thinking about going with new headers and maybe a new exhaust system for my first upgrades |

Intake, headers, and exaust is the right path to follow untill the companies bust out the turbos, Whatch out world im gunna have me a 02 civic w/ a turbo

tboyer, if you are ever gonna turbo your civic, dont get headers cuz the turbo just replaces the header manifold. just thougth i'd let you know:toothless

thats a hard question to answer with out going into specs
I would say anywhere form a baseline 30% gain for a SOHC civic running 5-6PSI to if built for it 200-500% more I've heard of B16s putting out 650BHP and even more for B18s thats race engine only but still the skys the limit my Civic DX with B16a has about 175BHP right now after turbo Im hoping to have 260-280WHP "300-315 flywheel" thats before building the engine up after that I will run more boost and push out my goal of 350HP after that FWD on the street is... well it sucks Jeff |

well I guess I'm finall in this as well. Last friday I bought a 93 HB Si. It's such a sweet ride. Only problem was finding insurance, those jerks. Oh well, at least I got what I wanted. I'll be posting pictures some time soon.

dudes a turbo will not hurt your engine anymore then a super charger or a high output N/A engine bottom line if you make more then stock power no matter what way you do it you will have more wear
as far as 7PSI 100K miles 9PSI 80K miles... there is no way you could ever figure in any #s to even come somewhat close if you have a 6PSI turbo engine next to a stock engine what would last longer? if you did things the way you should then both would end up around the same mile mark as far as living longer it depending on who changed the oil more who drove the car better and the list goes on alot of people take stock engines that redline at 7200RPM and rev them to 7600+RPMs guess what happens? use the engine for what its built for then it will live how ever long you keep it up I put 40K miles on my car in less then 2 years I need a car that will last a very long time and get me where I need to go with out any problems my goal is to push out 260-280WHP by end of summer and still drive 15-25K miles a year on it and I have no doubt in my mind I can get way over 100K miles on it if I can't then I will say piss on honda bucause they build crapy ass engines that can't hold up I know many guys that run 14-18PSI on there 240-280Z-ZXs Im talking 300+ WHP everyday cars that have 200K+ miles if you said there engine is getting old or have high mileage they would laugh at you bottom line your engine will live as long as you take care of it I think most honda engines break becuase of 1. timing belt breaks 2.dumb ass kids rev the piss out of them all day long I can't count the # of times I've seen guys sit there hitting there rev limiter YA your cool! 3. never changing oil |
