My son's 99 Grand Am cranks for about 5 - 10 times then starts. It does this intermittedly. Any thoughts?

Re: Trouble Starting
Yes he did a tune up with plugs etc. But this just started about 1 month ago. Tune up was done about a year ago. It has about 150K miles. He did change the coils a while ago.

Re: Trouble Starting
ok, I don't know how his ignition system is designed but on my 94, this happened to me also. It was so stupid that it costed me $400.00 from the mechanic(PepBoys). There is a 'bathtub' assembly where the coil packs sit. Its a huge plastic piece but it actually is part of the electrical system. Check to see if that part is burned our functioning correctly. It was only about $23.00 for me to replace and that was the culprit.
