JDM b20a accord motor 4th gen

This swap has been done by people on www.3geez.com . I want to do it but i cant find the motor anywere. It has to be the accord one. The prelude one will not work. If you guys can find one i would love that. Or do you think i can call an importer and get one.

Re: JDM b20a accord motor 4th gen

You mean 3rd gen? 4th gen has an F20A DOHC non-VTEC that makes 10 HP less than the 3rd gen's B20A DOHC, at 160 VS 150. They are not compatible.

Now, this is going to be a hard one to find. Even if you do, finding a tranny for it is even harder.

B20A is a piece of crap. Honda discontinued it for a reason.

The 2nd gen Prelude 84-87 and 3rd gen Accord 86-89 B20A is different than the 3rd gen 88-91 Prelude B20A/B20A5. It also makes waaay more HP, at 160 VS 135 USDM/145 JDM.

It's like a B16 with a real powerband, and more tire smoking power.

I'm not sure of his Accord 4th or 3rd gen, but if it's PGM-FI 3rd gen, his only choice is B20A, since Place Racing went out of bussiness, and there are now no Civic/Teg B series swap kits.

If your car is carbureted 3rd gen, you can TRY and find the ORIGINAL DOHC B18A, it originates from the 86-89 Accord EXL-S/GXL-S, and unrelated to the Teg B18A. Still 130 HP, over 98 A20A1.

If it's 4th gen, as the title says....H22A bolts right in to that bitch....if your strapped you can use Accord tranny, and parts, or if you're really strapped, use the JDM DOHC F20A.

BTW, B20B and B20Z is a piece of crap too.

Re: JDM b20a accord motor 4th gen

B20B/Z's are a 100 times better made motors than the old B20As. I'd rather do all the custom work to get a H22A in an old Accord than waste a fucking minute thinking about a B20A.

Re: JDM b20a accord motor 4th gen

yea my bad it is third. On the 3rd gen accord forum that i am a member off, a few people have swapped this motor. I have seen a few dyno results and the motor has a real good torque curve. I have the a20a3 pgm fi. My car right now is pre obd0 but there is a guy in the town that i live in that does wiring and he is going to convert it to obd0. I am going to run a pm6 with a d16a6 ecu. Should be done toward the end of next week. PRI is no longer around so if i wanted b series mounts, they would have to be custom done as well as axles and shift linkage. This b20a is a direct drop in. There is a chance that i could import a b20a2. The edm version but for that i need mounts, linkage, and axles so the b20a would be a way better option. The problem is finding it and when i find it, finding a tranny. Auto ones are easier to find than the 5 speeds. The b20a2 were all 5 speeds. Do you think i could call importers and see if they would be able to get one?

Post the slip.

And why would you bother with slicks on that? Sorry if I have a hard time believing that a practially stock (yes, intake, header and haha fullMSD is practically stock) 90-91 Prelude is going to be running lower than the average time of a much lighter Civic with a more power B16/18 motor.
