how to remove airfilter housing on 99 intrepid

I need to clean the battery terminals.
I can pull the air filter housing out part of the way
but can't see clearly how to get it all the way out.

First remove the hose clamp on the back right side (where the filtered air enters the plastic manifold intake). Now, on the right side of the air filter housing you will see a niple-looking structure that holds the right side of the housing to the frame. Do not fiddle with that, you'll only damage it. Below that niple and on either side of it are two bolts fastening the plastic housing bracket to the frame. Take out these two bolts (straight up). Now the housing is loose. You will notice that on the left-hand side there are two plastic supports "holding" that side of the housing to the wheel well. They are just set in support holes - not screwed or bolted in. You should be able to wiggle the whole filter housing and you will see that the whole housing will move to the left and can then be removed. I took my housing off last night and these two plastic supports were kind of stuck in the holes and required a little bit of forceful wiggling to get them out.

Note: The battery cables have really poorly designed clamps and bolts. Once you get the air filter housing off you may need to move the battery around to get these goofy bolts off. To do that you need to jack up the front passenger side of the car, remove the tire, and take out the "battery door" that is the front part of the wheel well. I think there are five 10 mm hex-head screws that you can get at when the tire is off. It also takes some forceful wiggling and manipulating the door and plastic wheel well to get the door off.
