random questions from a newbie
hey guys
i gotta 99 alero with the 3.4 v6 and im lookin for ideas of stuff to do to her performance wise and maybe some interior. Shes got 68k miles on her and i just got it a couple of months ago. I know some about mechanics and all that but not as much as i want to. I figured a good place to start with is an intake and changing the plugs and wires but now i have a question for ya...is changing the wires really as simple as just unplugging them and plugging in the new ones?? i want to get the msd wires off of doctorspeed.com and the ngk iridium plugs but i havent gotten around to it yet cuz im not really sure how to do it all. any feedback is welcome-i wanna learn as much as possible thanks |

Give us a call at 812-378-2982. we can help you to getting anything you want for your alero cause that is a car we specialize in. From turbos, superchargers, custom tail lights, cleard out front headlights to pretty much anything you want. Plus we pretty much know all the specks on the alero's cause we are modifiying a few right now.

Hey man, congrats on your purchase. What color did you get?
Anyway, I'm not too fond of mods, but one that I've done to my 2002 V6 was add a front strut tower brace, which made the handling 300 times better. As soon as I get more money I want to add a rear strut tower brace. I think this is the best way to get a better feel out of your car, handling wise. braces will help out your handleing a little but your suspension is still going to be sloppy around corners. we have the tower braces front and rear, and adjustable coilovers on it. the coilovers are very much needed if again you are into speed and taking corners fast because they firm up the ride so much and help the strut bars in getting rid of any other sway.
A far as performance we have recently put an Injen CAI, RK sport headerto a high flow cat, custom 2.25 piping all the way back to dual 4.5 inch performance mufflers, O2 simulator, auto trans interceptor, and we are custom making a stage 3 turbo kit for it as well to give it the extra HP that it is begging for. |

On suspension and handling, I'd be more interested in a lowering kit like from Eibach, etc. I have a '02 Alero GL2 with the RPO FE3 handling option with Goodyear Eagle RSA tires on 16 inch wheels and it feels fine the way it is. Its the same option the Grand Am GT has and supposedly does .83 gs on a skidpad stock.
What do you recommend in this area?

For engine mods you should also look to see what you can part for Grand Am GT. They have the exact same motor

only if you are running the V6 motors. but if your running the 4 cylinder motor like the 2.2 ecotec or the 2.4 then youll find more parts for thecavalier on this aspect.
As far at the eibach lowering springs or any lowering springs, they are nice to have and they do improve the handleing a bit... but I have found the adjustable coilovers to be far more better in the handleing aspect. Also if your wanting an idea as to just some of the things you can get for your alero go to www.indyextremecustoms.com there is a wide selection of parts there. they are adding more parts and stuff for the alero and so many other rides daily so keep an eye out. |
