random multiple cylinder misfire

I have a 2000 Z24. The car began to intermittantly miss. It also began to miss briefly when idleing. RPM's drop @ 100 and recover in less than a second. There is no set patterns that I can see. Also, random brief hesitation from a stop. The check engine light comes on occasionally Also, the trac off light comes on occasionally, along with the check engine light, but not always. Had it diagnosed as random multiple cylinder misfire. Dealer can't find anything in particular. The fuel filter has been replaced and the injectors have been cleaned. Don't feel like being a parts changer. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks....

Re: random multiple cylinder misfire

Does it miss more when hot? If so check your coils and plug wires. Sometimes you canactually see this at night by rasing the hood an slightly reving the motor.

Re: random multiple cylinder misfire

i dont know much about 2000 year cars, im a muscle car guy with a new 05. so this is a technique that works, but you have to have plug wires. wait until it misses, pull a plug wire, change in engine rpm, its good, repeat until no change, that is the faulty plug, wire, distributer point, whatever you have lol.
