Need some advise getting a porsche

Hey guys, need some advice on getting a porsche. I have my eyes on a manual 997 carrera at the moment, test droved it and loved it, ideally i would like to have a Carrera S, but i can't justify paying $20K more for the marginal benifit.

the question i would like to ask is, i've heard that the cayman will be deliver to customers from dealers in early Feb next year, which is about 6 odd month away, and with people can start taking orders, do you think that the bottom for 997 will fall out and therefore damage the resell value.

since the launch of the cayenne, the 911s has suffered a little, so the cayman.....

any ways, any advice would be valuable.

The Cayman will take some 997 sales, but some will want a "911" and not a less expensive Porsche. Watch out for RMS leaks on 997s. The 997 GT3 will hold its value the best if the 996 GT3 is any indication to go by in the U.S.

The resale on 911's is rock solid. I wouldn't worry about a new model causing the bottom to drop out of 911 resale value. In fact, 911's hold their value to a rediculous and frustrating (for me) level given that a 15 year old 911 still costs 20-30k. Look at other cars in that price range, say....Jaguar. A 15 year old Jag can be bought for less than 10k any day. No need to worry.

I don't want to go against the grain on this subject but the 911 will loose some value, the ones such as the GT2 and the GT3 will hold their value pretty strong. I’ve seen sales of the used 996 models coming way down…..

Personally I preach to everyone who ask regarding the purchase of one of these vehicle is to buy it because you love it not because you’re worried about the resale. If you want the resale value to hold you might consider a Honda, they don’t do too bad…. J
