Maybe...

I've been away too long... been distracted by events and other interests. But I was driving home from a trip down country and my mind was wandering when I remembered something that someone that told me, and it seems it was some time ago.

Folk, she told me, are somewhere between 'at cause' and 'at effect' - when you are 'at cause' your belief is that your choices and decisions influence directly and indirectly your environment and the people in that environment. You are responsible and in control of your destiny ie the buck stops here.

Folk who are 'at effect' are those where they believe that what happens to them is because they are unable to make choices... in other words, they believe that their environment causes things to happen and that they simply passengers. You could say they almost feel helpless in what the world throws at them - and it's never them that is at fault.

I think I am close to being 'at cause' I believe I can change things around me and that when an opportunity presents itself - it's up to me to go and chase it down. I still think that sometimes the universe tries to lead me occasionally but I think I'm responsible for all the great rewards and also the regrets that I have accumulated...

Now where do you sit... at cause or at effect....

Re: Maybe...

At cause of course. I must "get" when I can. I don't want to live in a prison. If I dont "get" to be where I am at, then I try to. I don't want to be "at effect". Although some people have no choice in the matter. I am one of those people who does. I would post a better descripyion but I am a little buzzed and sleepy...bye edit, see you in the morning.

Re: Maybe...

Proactive and reactive are the other monikers often used.

I think that most people are at cause for things they're interested in, and at effect for things they don't care about.

Overall I feel that I am at cause.

Re: Maybe...

w00p, lets hear it for "at cause"

the inability of the majority of people ive encountered to take personal responsibility for themselves disgusts me.

Hear, hear!!! You have to be personally responsible for your own actions. Period. Those that aren't (or claim not to be) are deluded.

Re: Maybe...

It very simple truth, cause leads to effect. Any action U take creates an effect, which then leads to further causes, which you have to choose from.
