New Engine for my Sol

Ok, question. Well, two actually. 1. I was thinking of getting a b16a2 DOHC to replace my b16a SOHC. Will it be a sizable difference or should I look elsewhere? 2. Will I need the tranny and ect... for the new b16a2 or will my stock stuff work?

P.S. Just got my Del Sol so trying to feel my way through the mods.

Uy... Ok 1. You either have a D15B7 or a D16Z6 right now, Not a B16. 2. If you want to swap to the B16A2 you'll have to convert to OBD2. Maybe you mean the B16A3 which is OBD1, as is your car. As for your other questions...

And next time, Search before you post a question.

Re: New Engine for my Sol

Sorry about that but I had no idea where to start looking. There aren't exactly many easy to find Del Sol Tech sites out there if you know what I mean. Thanks for your help though, I'll spend more time looking next time before I post. Much appreciated.

Re: New Engine for my Sol

To be honest at first I didn't. Was looking for a quick answer. It was hidden in there but I found it. I was expecting to find the post tailored to my needs. That post should have enough information for me to learn the rest on my own. Thanks again.

first off audio mans right about what you got in your car but you dont need to convert to obd2 its just for smog an diagnostics you'll be fine with out it but your check engine light will just stay on better to convert though go to jdmspec.com

Yea, you do, becuase if he has an OBDI harness it will not match up with the OBDII motor. Neither will the ECU. Also the engine code is on the front of the block, to the left of the exhuast manifold. And please dont bring back old threads.

a audio man i aint trying to say you dont know your shit but you should double check because "first off the id is not on the block" . i think after working on cars for 10 years you would learn a few things an one thing i've learned is that the id is located on the clutch housing aka the bell housing an on autos its on the top of the transaxle housing oh and b4 you post read the fine print the "obd 1 or 2 is not needed period!" in lamens terms your car will live without it but you wouldn't be able to run proper comp. diagnostics an you would have a hard time passing smog
anways good luck with the swap

Re: New Engine for my Sol

oh and in you profile it says your b-day is in 1986? that make you 19... so if you mean to tell me youve been working on cars (helping daddy change the oil doesnt count) since you were 9?? do your self a favor and dont come back until you learn to accept when you are wrong

I feel like you're trying to communicate...if you mean that OBD doesn't matter than your an idiot.
