radiator replacement w/ oil cooler

OK, folks it finally bit the dust. my radiator blew on me this morning on my way to work. I have the oil cooler and need to replace the radiator. Now my question is that oil cooler, is it pumping antifreeze through it or something else? i dont wanna pull it out and release something i shouldnt. I'm hopin its just anti-freeze as well. Please let me know folks. I gotta get my car back.

Re: radiator replacement w/ oil cooler

Don't worry, the oil cooler only circulates coolant from the radiator.

Re: radiator replacement w/ oil cooler

If your oil cooler pumped antifreeze thru it it would be called a radiator not an oil cooler. I would guess an oil cooler has oil going thru it.

OK, let's be sure what you are talking about. Is it the trans cooler or does the radiator have coolant lines going to an area where the oil filter is mounted?

yes its a trans oil cooler. there is transmission fluid in there. I know now because when i disconnected it, the old hose got cut by the clamp. I'm now leaking trans fluid from it. I know because its slipping up hills. So i will more than like be getting the new hose and hopeing that i can finally get this damn thing taken care of. As for the radiator we used a whole set of JB weld and it went from a pour to a drip. Dont buy that stupid wanna be putty go with the real deal stuff if you have the problem i had.

Re: radiator replacement w/ oil cooler

Good news, I also have not seen a engine oil cooler on the PA's however I do have them on both of my Z28's. If you order the Chevorlet with the police option package, they come with a oil cooler that circulates coolant from the radiator to a housing that the oil filter mounts to. Of course, they don't mix and I assume they do help cool the engine oil somewhat.
