What type of engine is in the GTs? i know its a 24valve DOHC but what brand/type.
Example my SVT Contour Has a 2.5L 24valve DOHC Duratec.
and my Escape has a 3.0L duratec.

Actually the ford probe motors were built by mazda, THese were special built motors no other motors are the same. The motor changed very little for the years.

Re: engine

it is definitely worth it go for a klze. you wouldnt just gain more compression, but you would go to 200hp stock with the jdm ecu. remeber that any mods you do will also give you more power than the stock 2.5l.

and yeah you can absolutely the 2.5l v6 into a base probe. you will also need a gt tranny. you can even use the base axles. some turboed 4 bangers make over 220hp on stock BASE axles. 200hp on base axles is safe.

its is the kl03 indeed.

Re: engine

stock US yeah. europe too.

the KL block had the aid of porsche as far as engineering goes. also from what i've heard around, mazda had built a ton of engine blocks to use in F1, but they decided to go a different way...so they got stuck with a bunch of blocks lying around, and so they decided to build a production car around them...isnt that cool, our engines were gonna be F1 monsters...
