Webtech!?

Ok is it just me, or is the Hyundai WebTech site changed? The link that I have bookmarked and worked just fine a few weeks ago, is either all jacked up, or changed. Anyone know whats up?

Yep they changed it and made it so you couldn't access it without a password, but I believe it is possible to make one up and get in. Not sure though.

Just when you think you are going the right way, you make a wrong turn and get lost.

Thats is exactly whats happened with Webtech. I sent Hyundai a detailed email about my dissatisfaction over their Webtech change and explained to them that alot of Hyundai dedicated sites really rely on the simplicity and information provided by the site. I told them that its a disservice to their customers to make it into a system that is used by KIA. The KIA system is just plain hell to go through (especially if you are not an owner).
I emailed them the following complaints...
1- Now everyone had to register to gain access to the TSBs, schematics, etc.
2- Once registered, the password is not sent, and one has to request it again.
3- With the password, it sometimes lets you in, and sometimes it gives you a strange error message.
4- The password given is quite hard to remember.
5- There is no way to change the password in the registers profile.
6- Actually nothing can be changed or added in the registers profile.
7- You cannot link (bookmark) to a particular TSB, shop manual schematic.
8- It does allow you to email the document you are requesting to your self, but the email you get is not the one you requested. You get some other tsb, schematic etc.,

Considering that last year they were voted one of the best automotive technical websites, with the new version I doubt they will make it in the top ten.

They responded....

Thank you for your interest in the hmaservice.com service information
website. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with the new upgraded website. I hope that we can address these issues.

First, the new upgraded site has added features such as full-text
searching of service information, accepts logic searches (+ or - symbols, or quotes around exact phrasing) to provide more detailed results, and results are presented in order of relevance, as with major internet search engines.
The upgraded site is running off an enhanced database that will
allow more service information features to be added in the near future.
While the user profile can not be edited at this time, it is one of the
functions planned for development later this year.
With increasing regulations on automotive service information websites, and reporting that we are required to provide, we have found it necessary to require all users to log in with user accounts, in order to provide adequate usage tracking and user support. Please note that the Hyundai Service Information website still remains free of charge. The upgraded website uses session IDs to identify log-ins so that usage and any issues can be located, however this and the requirement to log-in for usage eliminates the ability to bookmark directly to a document. Since ease of use is still important to Hyundai, we have dedicated resources to future development of bookmarking and notes capabilities within the user profile.
You can continue to use the Feedback page for any recommendations to be forwarded to the development team for evaluation.
Regarding your problem with registration, we have discovered that some
email servers or systems with high SPAM filtering have been blocking our
support emails with registration passwords. As you have discovered, the
"Forgot my password" link will resend the email with your information. In
testing, we have not discovered any issues with log-in passwords - please check that the password is typed correctly and note that passwords are case sensitive. If you get further error messages, please use this Feedback page and provide more detail of the error message received.
Also the "email document" function has been tested and the issue you have described has not been previously seen - please provide more information about the specific document you attempted to email and what was received, and our Quality Assurance team can investigate further.
Again, we hope that the problems you had registering for a user account do not detract from the improved features in the new website. As with anything new, we have found issues to work out, and users will find new processes to get accustomed to. You can contact us with any future issues or suggestions.

Thanks for your understanding and support.

So I emailed them examples of the email problem and they tell me that since the launch of the enhanced website there have been other cases reported of that problem. DUH.

I am curious to know though what they mean by "With increasing regulations on automotive service information websites, and reporting that we are required to provide," .

What are they reporting and to whom?

So members bottom line we are stuck with this new Webtech for now with or without the reported problems fixed or not. We can't hot link any TSBs nor schematics nor pics off their site anymore.

TS out (putting fingers on ice)

That is just a bunch of BS. Why did they have to go and do all of that crap for? There was nothing wrong with that website before and now they've F*@$ed it all up!

Yeah, thats just fooking retarded. No Haynes....no Chilton....no WebTech...thats a bitch. No way in hell am I spending 80$ or better on a book that I used to get easily online. That and it wasnt one of the better tech manuals I have seen. Meh, maybe ill vent to the man, not on this thread.

Anyways, thanx for the heads up on that guys. And btw, if you need Wiring Schematics, lemme know lol. I think I have most of them printed out.

Yes, yes...I know. Nah, I actually have the self esteem the size of a 2 foot midget. (Maybe thats why I am enfatuated with them.) lol. Anyways, I hate running to the car, testing, back to the comp, scroll...repeat previous steps till problem found and solved. :/ Plus I like to color on all the pages, and last time I did that on the computer screen it made a mess, so I learned to print the Schematics on paper.

(Ok, so I am not very funny this morning. Im not really ignorant enough to draw on my screen. The running back and forth part is true though.)

Normally yes, I would. But since my little bro had a confrontation last August with the road while going 123mph on his Suzuki JXR 750, I have to put the blame on my little sister. (Lol... )
