They respond real well to mod's I have heard, depending on which mod. Modern Performance is dedicated to helping neons and now the SRT-4. Check them out.

Re: Srt-4

The srt4 is awesome with mods---my best friend has done A LOT to his and hasn't had any problems with it. ie--upper charge pipe, bov, aftermarket exhaust, turbo timer, wga, a bunch of computer stuff---his car has like 6000 miles on it and he hasnt had one problem yet.......modern performance is the best site to go to for all your srt4 stuff (in my opinion). turboneonstore.com is also good

Re: Srt-4

what about grip, I know the '04 comes with a LSD, but still, when you start adding power and hp goes beyond or near 400 it would be hard to handle, the problem is RWD are either expensive or just too ordinary (camaro, mustang, etc)

You should be fine with the stock LSD. Don't put stuff on there until you know you need it. Add your power along with some sticky tires and you should be good to go.

You failed to mention that you have an '03...I would wait until you start putting down some more HP. Put your "toys" on there and them determine what you will need next!
