Tranny stays in Reverse

I own a 96 Gr.Caravan 3.3, 4 speed. I stopped my van put it in park and removed the key. When I try to start it again nothing happens. The instrument panel shows that it is in Reverse although it is in Park. When I try to move it to Neutral the shifter will move but the N doesn't light up and the van still won't work. I checked the cable and it's allright

Update.
In case anyone has the same problem it was the Neutral start/back-up switch located at the lower front edge of the tranny (4 speed).

Easy to access and easy to replace.

There is only one thing better then when people post the actual solution that cured their problem - that's adding the pictures of the part and it's location! ;-)

Thanx for the update - it is truly appreciated, and very helpful to someone else looking through the group for resolution to the same problem.
