rpm gauge question

in my 2000 blazer lt there is no rpm gauge, it just has an extra wide spedo. my question is if i buy a new dash set up that encludes a rpm gauge(the guy said it came off his 2000 blazer) would the rpm's show or just read zero? if zero, how i set it up to read my rpms?

The Tachometer would work just fine. I have a 2000 Blazer LT and just replaced my Cluster that had the big speedo with one that has the Tach and speedo and it worked like a charm.

The mileage is stored on the cluster.

I just replaced my cluster not to long ago and the mileage changes when you put a new cluster in. I am not guessing on this topic, I am speaking from experience.

Not legally, Federal law prohibits tampering with an Odometer. You can buy a brand new cluster from GM and have them set odometer for you. The existing mileage has to be certified by a GM dealer.

I have a friend that works at a Chevy dealer and her cost would be over $500.00 to have all of that done.

It is supposedly stored on a chip in the cluster. You could always try and swap it but I have been told it isn't possible.

Try it for yourself, you will see that I am right.

The new cluster was within 4,000 miles.
