kinda off topic but can u help me?

i have bin looking at more cars in the past 3 months and have just taken a peak at the mercedes benz ML 320 but no nothing bout it. As some of u guys know im 17 and ready to buy a car so do u think it would ok for me to buy an suv like the ML320? My parents probably wont agree with me to buy this car because they afraid it will tip and its the trepidation of them i despise the most lol. Some guy in our local newspaper said that suv's were better than small guy just to the fact that they r heavier and when in a crash can absorb most of the intake of a crash and r well protected being as big as they are. But that guy is kinda gay so i dont know wth im gonna do. Go with the focus which dont really seem like much of an option or the mercedes or a mazda 3, but its not my choice. I dont have any freaking green lol!! I just really enjoy the unique styling of an suv and have the capabilities that it does with 4 wheel drive and the amount of storage in the ML320 i could easily carry all my buds to school and can go off-roading maybe mudding sometimes due to the abilties of this car. It hope it get good mpg its sure as hell looks like it. compared to gmc's yukon or the surburban i think it get a considerable more amount of miles per gallon but havent looked into it. Can yall tell me the stats of the car and whether i should get it. Sorry for posting here instead at the mercedes forum but no one was there at the ML320 forum and most people know me here for my noobish ways. Im gonna go outside and shoot some hoops.

Thanks for the help.

Re: kinda off topic but can u help me?

I would try the car comparison forum (in the Cars in General forum) for better advice. However (keep in mind that this is biased because I hate SUVs) I don't really like the idea of a new driver driving an SUV...I think that because of their size, power, etc., it's better to drive one daily with a little more experience. Yes, they may absorb more crash impact, but I feel bad for that poor soul in the sub-compact that gets destroyed because he was hit by an SUV. Wanna go off road, but don't have much money? Buy a used Wrangler, get the 4 cylinder, and you should get decent MPG for an SUV/truck.

I agree with Mustangman25. Get a Wrangler if you are serious about going off-road. I would get the 4.0 vice the 2.8 though. Same milage, more power if you plan on hauling anything. It's got tons of aftermarket for customizing, the cheapest convertible on the block, looks good, and is easy to repair generally. Skip the ML, it'll sink you in insurance and gas, plus you'll find that getting aftermarket parts for it is tough. BTW, for what you'll spend on the ML you could get a used Focus AND a Wrangler and really go to town on both. Lower the Focus, Raise the Wrangler. Hope this helps.

Re: kinda off topic but can u help me?

Yeah thanks a lot you guys. You guys have completely changed my opinion of the merecedes i loved. I guess i just really want a car and be able to drive already. I have been waiting forever to get my own whip and ride it anywhere i feel like it. Its the iimpatience that is killing me. Mustang u r right. The insurance and gas milage put into the car is crazy. Plus i dont like the idea of trashing someone else because i stink at driving. Im not really sure at this point what car i really want. Maybe every car that was every made like what Jay Leno has been doing hahhahha! I drove my grandma's 02 volvo V70. Its probobly the best car i have ever driven in my life. It handles and accelerates well for a wagon and a very comfortable ride with little road noise with great visibility but i still cant figure out some of the mechanics near the ac etc. I really want a 06 cadillac V. Its basically a more advanced sts. It really reminds me of a FA-18 or a jet of some sort. I dunno but anyways thanks for everyones posts. I continue my journey for a car once again lol.

I've driven the V70R (the turbo AWD racing version) and it is just what you said...an absolute dream...too bad my friend's dad is selling it
