Supercharged

If I were to supercharge my v6 3.4l ( ha ha i know.. ) Would I be able to take it out and put it on a v8? Or are they sized to fit individual engines?

Same with CAI?

Re: Supercharged

are you asking about popping hte super off the 3.4 and putting it on a lt1/ls1?

i think.... (probably wrong) there isn't a super charger for 3.4 and if there is it isn't worth it(personal opinion)

But I doubt it caues the 3.4 would need to be completely rebuilt head to toe for the supercharger to work or else you'll kill the engine in a few weeks

Re: Supercharged

A centrifigal s/c would. But, I wouldn't throw $2500+ on one to put on a stock 3.4 and expect it to live long. MAybe a 3.8 with mid level boost could?

Re: Re: Re: Supercharged

Actually, RSM Racing makes a supercharger for the 3.4's. But they want $3500 for it, and it only gives you 80 HP. Not worth it at all IMO. I'd say if you're looking at any kind of forced induction that you can swap to a V8, then I'd say buy a single or twin turbo setup. You would probably spend around 2500-3500 for it, and get well over 80 HP out of it.

If you're interested in getting a turbo. Then you should check out Force Fed Fabrication. They have a 3.4L on a single turbo setup, using the To4 turbo, and at 15 psi it's putting out 397rwtq. Then they put on the T61 turbo, and at 5 psi, they're hitting 373 rwtq. Some pretty nice stuff.

just in case the thought hasn't run by you yet, and I didn't see anyone else suggest it but...

you could probablly find a Z28 with better chances of living long, and it might cost about 2-3k more than your V6, but its got 100 more HP, not 80.

Yeah, the guy has basically upgraded everything you could imagine on it. Except for the bottom end. That's all he says that he has stock.

Yeah, that site pretty much was my inspiration to wanna work on mine. Just kind of curious to see what exactly I can get out of it myself. Not like I'm expecting to acheive 500 HP. Heck, if I was out to do that, I would have traded my bird in a loooong time ago for a V8. I just think it'll be a fun, first time engine to work on.

Re: Supercharged

After seeing that.... I want a turbo... That website has inspired me to make my car better. 400 rwhp is good enough for me, for now.

Re: Supercharged

there is hope for hp in a 3.4, but honestly how long do you think the 3.4 would last if you beefed it up that much..

i contemplated a cam and some head work for this summer, but when i found out it would cost me over 1500 because i couldnt machine the heads myself, i decided it was money better spent on saving for a v8 and investing in that farther down the road, i would rather have a stock 275-300 hp platform to work with than 160... just a thought

Re: Supercharged

Very true. I will most likely not put anything *too* expensive on my car.. but for now to satisfy my NFS, Im probally going to do minor things like making CAI, etc. I already started saving for my v8 anyways.

the site says he's been using the kit for 2 years w/ no adverse effects... sounds like a winner to me
