91 buick regal; check engine engine light?

Hello guys....

I'm currently in the proccess of trying to fix the humming in the radios for the regals, and i came accross a new problem........

When ever i do like 50-55mph, and then go to pass someone, My check engine light comes on and stays on until i put the car in neutural and hit the gas real quick. Then the light goes off, and doesnt come back on.

Then after the light goes off, its like i have a brand new car.... Very fast, easy to speed with, and takes very little of the throttle to be doing 50-55mph. That is until i shut the car off. When i start the car back up, its like it is everyday, just a normal 3.8 liter....

When i check for codes, nothing comes up. I knwo this sounds weird, but when the check engine light goes back off, its liek someone slapped a turbo on my car and forgot to inform me.... Like that wicked fast.

This confuses me, much like other thigns in this world..... How does my car do that? like show that it has a problem, and then like.....boom its a turbo-charged race car? I mean, its only a 3.8.... it shouldnt be able to put me back in my seat that much....

Thanks for any help, and im sorry about the wicked long responce, but its cool and worrysome, at the same time..
Thanks agian,
Bill

**edit** The problem only hapens intermittently **un-edit**

you know..

you know, my check engine light is on intermittently.

i haven't pulled the codes yet because i think i might know what it is, but its related to the temperature of the engine (for me anyway,) it comes on generally once the engine warms up, and usually the engine lopes at idle when the light comes on.

i heard there is a problem with 3.8's intake manifold gaskets, there doesn't appear to be coolant in the oil, and im pretty sure im not losing coolant, but would it be worth checking out?

also- i don't suppose anyones found a fix for that buzzing from the radio yet?

Wow, that much of a difference? Once you find the "problem" you should sell it haha.

If you can't pull any codes you may want to watch a scantool closely for any unusual changes. Figuring out an intermittent problem is one of the toughest. It seems like you are able to replicate it though, which is good.

Sell it? Heck no, i lvoe that regal... lol...... YEah it is good that the problem happens intermittently. I was wondering... on the intake on the regals, there is a idle air control senser? Or something like that... Its like........ It plugs into the box were the air filter is... What is that...... It keeps rubbing up aganst the radiator hose, and im wondering if that couldnt be part of the problem... like its sending to great or little of a signal? I dont know, but it is cool. lol
Thanks,
Bill
