Re: tmic

TMIC = trunk mount intercooler
OR are you asking about a TOP mount IC?

There are a few Top mounts out there.
There are many, many more trunk mounts.
I am doing a trunk mount.

Is there a reason you're thinking of top mount?

Re: tmic

top mount works fine, the st165 came with an air-air top mount, i have one in my 1.5.

i'd suggest just getting an st185 air-water IC though...

Top mount works fine, but I'm wondering why you'd opt for that over the original placement? Air duct is there, its plenty easy to run dual fans (push/pull), or whatever water setup you had in mind.

Re: tmic

There is a manufacturer making a top mount for the turbo MR2 now and showing great results ~ especially ocmpared to the side mounts.

The benefits of a top mount:
1. You can have a much larger core
2. You can place it over the tranny instead of the exhaust side of the turbo

Why I do not want Air-to-water:
1. added complexity
2. added weight
3. Against NHRA rules

Re: tmic

GReddy makes a side mount, that is what is in Hyde now.

MR2turbo93, for a track day where you are doing serious driving and a lot of laps, both ICs would suck.

A large trunk-mount IC or a Water-to-Air would be a better option.
