My car was rear-ended!

I was driving down Abercorn on my way to work Friday morning. I was crusing down the street about 7:45am, excited b/c I know as soon as I get off work I have to go home, wash and wax my car, and then meet up with my friends so we can all ride up to the drag strip for imports vs. domestics night. The traffic ahead is moving slow and I start to brake b/c the cars ahead are coming to a halt for the stop light. My car comes to a stop and I look into my rear view mirror. I see a gold Saturn coming pretty fast toward me and all I can think is, "Oh my God this bitch is never going to stop in time. I hold the brake pedal to the floor, brace myself with my arms on the steering wheel, and grit my teeth. Suddenly, "WHAM!" this car plows into me going about 40mph, my car slams forward and bumps the BMW in front of me. My head and neck plunge forward and then I am slammed back against the seat. As I gather my senses, I wonder exactly how much damage is done to the rear of my car. I step out and see my rear bumper lying on the ground. My rear frame is almost ripped in half from the impact. My exhaust is bent downwards and the muffler is cracked from the exhaust. I open the trunk and the muffler is jammed up bent the inside of the trunk up. I shut the trunk in disgust and now it won't close. Both of my rear quarter panels are dented from the impact and the toe of my rear tires is now making them point inward. Pieces of the Saturn's headlights are scattered all over the road. I have always been kidding about wanting my car to get rear-ended, but now this is reality. The insurance company says that they will probably total it and estimate the damages to be around $7800. I will be getting a final estimate on Monday. Reality starts to set in and I'm pretty upset to know that I won't be driving my black civic anymore. The same car I've put so much money and time into will be gone.
I've got my stereo, apexi vafc, and razo shift knob off. I know the owner of the Body shop personally and he's got it locked up in the garage Next week I'll have to find some stock rims/tires so I can get my rims, and I'll get the guy to solder off my muffler. Today I had to go and rent a crappy Toyota Corolla and it sucks to see everyone driving they're Hondas around. On the way home from the rental car place, I pulled in the gas station, picked up a Tell n' Sell and the most recent Auto Trader and began my search for a new beginning.

my girlfriend rear-ended me at a stoplight. her gauge cluster had gone out in her grand am and she was following me down the street so she knew how fast she was going, she fell way back behind me for some reason and was finally catching up. there was a yellow light up ahead and i knew that i could make it but she would have to run a red light. so i laid on the breaks and stopped just over the white line, then WHAM! i had slowed down to stop at the light and meanwhile she sped up to make it. most of the damage was underneath my car. the spare tire compartment was all bent upwards into the trunk and looked like the shape of the front of her car. My tailpipe had peirced her bumper and i had to use her cork screw on her swiss army knife to get the foam and plastic out. her car was totaled out and mine had $3000 in damage to it. i got it fixed for $2100 and got to keep $900. we found her a gs-r, an awesome trade for a shitty grand am. i had to drive a fucking neon for 3 weeks. those cars are shit. out of the field of vision you have inside the car 40 percent is of the inside of the car obstructing your vison. the back end is up high so you cant see out the back window or side windows. i kept trying to jump the train tracks by my house with it without much success.

anyway, with the extra money i was able to do a few things. i got an aftermarket exhaust instead of a new stock one. i put the money for a new back bumper into a body kit, which i have now but need the money to paint it, meanwhile the old messed up one is on the car.

so i would suggest to you to spend your money wisely. you can have a phat ride for about $8000 if you try. get a salvaged title car for way cheap and fix it up or buy an older car or base model and build it up. you could get a 5th gen for $2000-3000 with all power or a vx for under a grand and then spend the rest on mods. type r motor or cr-vtec with turbo and a kit, full coilovers, ect. just remember that the newer the car the more money its gonna be. you could buy a beater and use the rest on a downpayment on the new rx-8 or what ever. good luck

I still owe about $2500 on that civic so after the settlement, I should have around $5000 left to start over. But I'm not going to accept the first offer that Progressive gives me. I'm gonna try and get as much money as they will give me for it so it will give me more time to look for a car.
I'm looking for a 5th generation hatch so I can do the crv-vtec swap. At this point, I really wouldn't mind buying someone else's project car and making improvements on it. I started my car from scratch and I know how much $ it cost to get it how I wanted. I'll probably look on AutoTrader.com and see what I can find.

It's at the old Savannah Drag Strip twice a month. The track is only 1/8 of a mile. It used to be 1/4 track but they found out that cars got faster and they didn't have enough time to stop.

I'm sorry to hear that bro. After all the plans and everything. I guess this could be a good thing if you think it is. Personally I'm praying to God that all this work I'm doing isn't gonna goto waste because of some idiot somewhere. Any reason why the Saturn "didn't see you"?

She was probably putting on her makeup or talking on a cell phone or something. I looked at 500 cars last night on AutoTrader.com. I found this one h/b that I really like. It is a white 95 h/b 5spd, teg ls motor w/ 84k, custom paint, carbon fiber hood, shaved moldings, jvc cd, charisma front end, cai, dc header, and 17" Konig rims. I saw a picture and it looks pretty nice. He wants $8500. I'm going to call him today and ask him if he's changed the timing belt since he put the ls motor in and ask him if the price is negotiable.

I was rear ended in my accord at the beginning of the school year. Luckily it only knocked my muffler off the hangers and bent up some of the piping. The funny thing was it was one of my friends and it did like $1200 in damage to his car and only $180 to mine. Gotta love Honda quality.
Anywho, I was just curious, do you get super nervous when your stopped at a redlight or someone is tailgating you? I still get nervous 7 months after it happened.
And who has to pay for the BMW, if that had damage? Would it be your fault or hers?

Yeah, it is the other girls fault. She's going to have to pay for the BMW's damage too. I've been lookin' half of the day for a new car. The car I mentioned before (95 w/ teg ls motor) was sold. I have to call my bank and find out what the payoff is on my car and then find out what my insurance company is going to give me.
I found a 92 h/b with a 98 GSR motor w/ 45k, type-r cams, cai, dc header, and coilovers for $6000. Hopefully I'll check that out tomorrow as soon as I get a good estimate from my insurance company.

dont ask money from your insurance cuz any additional money that comes out of your insurance will cost you extra money in the long run. You say the other person has insurance try to get as much money as you can from the other party company. Even make up somethings to increase the about of the value. Dont totally lie but be creative:smoka:

Hey man sorry to hear about your car man! That sucks, hey did your custom tails get messed up. All that work you put into it. That sucks. Good luck to you.

Make sure you don't claim anything with your insurance. Only talk to her insurance and let them pay.

Actually she isn't insured on the car. It was her dad's friend's car and her dad said that she could drive it. Her dad's friend happens to be in Germany and they haven't been able to get in contact with him. My insurance company said that they will handle the claim and then collect $ from the other insurance company. My agent is supposed to get back with me today with an estimate. I found a 92 h/b with a GSR motor w/ 45k, dc header, tanabe exhaust, cai, type r cams. I really want this car!!
