Help! My new (old) Jetta died!

Hey everyone. This is my first post so bear with me. I just got an 86 Jetta GLI Wolfsburg Edition. It's an automatic transmission, and everything is totally stock. The car sat for 8-10 months prior to me buying it. It started fine on the second try. When I drove it home, I noticed it was hard to get going.. I really had to dig on the throttle to get up to speed. After cruising along for about 30 miles, the car stalled out, and hasn't started since. I have a suspicion that it's the fuel pump(s) because I can't hear them when I turn the key. But would they both die at the same time? I don't know a whole lot about this vehicle, but what I've read on here so far has definitely helped. Can anyone shine some light on this for me? I'd greatly appreciate it.

Carl S.
