New Clutch....

My car needs a new clutch, it's almost to the point where even a little bit of gas will make it slip. I went to the dealer and they want $800 for a OEM clutch installed. I went to a local trans shop and they said that the clutch alone was going to cost a little over $500. I found this one on ebay for less than the stock clutch. I want to see if I can get the dealership to install it. What do you guys out there think I should do?

Re: New Clutch....

if it was me....i would not buy that clutch. for the most part, performance parts and ebay do not go hand in hand. i would be a SPEC stage 1 or 2 clutch and have the local performance shop install it. the stealership will rip you a new one with the install charges. and the stealership might not install an aftermarket clutch

Re: New Clutch....

It looks like I might take your advice.....I found a stage 3 spec clutch for about $379. I looked at the difference between the stage 3 and 4, and the only difference was that one has quick engagement. It would be nice to race with, but is it really needed?

NO!!!! DO NOT GET THE STAGE 3 UNLESS YOU ARE GOING WITH TURBO/SUPERCHARGER!! the stage 3 and 4 have a very very very harsh engagement. there have been many 3Gs that have destroyed their stock differential b/c of the harsh engagement of the stage 3. thats why i recommend the stage 2 for the non-FI cars.

Well, at somepoint in time I will be putting a turbo charger on my eclipse, once I can find one, and find a place near me that will put it on. I'll go with your suggestion and buy the Stage 2 instead. I'm glad I posted here before I went and ordered that bad boy. I'm sure aftermarket differentials are a little expensive, aswell as not needed on my car for the time being.

Thanks for the great advice!

Re: New Clutch....

Kaaz LSD = ~$700
quaife LSD = ~$1100

then install is probably another $400.

if you want to look for turbos....search around this board. we have talked about it alot.

also, go to www.club3g.com and register there. then PM Tearstone. he will enlighten you about turbos
