in the market for a bedliner and was going to going to get the linex spay in bed liner but I don't want to mess up the bed of my truck. Is a drop in better I won't be doing alot of slamming stuff in the bed but it might happen and I don't want to do dent my new truck all up

also looking for a good soft tonneau cover the guy at the shop suggested the folding cover by advantage how well do they hold up compared to snapp or velcro do the make a velcro without the rail I have a stepside and don't want to loose anymore of my bed to a rail

Drop-in is the worst thing for your truck. How would spraying a bed liner mess up the truck? It's permanent and a good investment. Line-X of Rhino are two good brands.

Get the folding soft tonneau, it can be taken of and stored under the back seat or in the bed. The hinged soft tonneau I have can not go with me if I take it off to haul something. The folding has no pieces permanently attached to the truck and can be folded to the front third and snapped together so the back two thirds is open.

Can you tell I wish I had a folding??? If you want a hinged I'll make you one hell of a deal on a flush mount soft tonneau......

thanks for the replies after reading all of the post on spray in bedliners I think I will go with the line x I thought that my bed would be easily damaged but I guess you have to really beat on it to dent it up and after looking around the advantage torza top is looking better and better can anybody who has this tell me how you like it and how will this work on a stepside I don't really have a rail for it to catch on thanks

I don't have it but after a few phone calls the hook goes either to the hole on the inside of the stake pocket or the 4 eyes in the side of the bed. They would not open it up for me but the directions are not clear either. No drilling and no parts, just the cover. When you get yours, yes you need one, report back and remind me of how big a mistake I made....

I went with an Extang III. It uses a hook over rail system on three sides, and slides in on the front. If I need the bed, I just roll it loose on three sides, and roll it up at the front of the bed. The rear rail pops loose with 2 push buttons, and the 3 cross bars are spring loaded. Nothing permanent in the install. 6 clamps hold the rails to the bedsides.

go line x....i love it was the first thing i did when i got my silvy....cost about 400-450 for a short bed over rail....the best investment you can do for your truck

Rhino is what I got...got them to match the paint of my gray Z71. Sweet when it matches the paint-I beat up the bed, and still looks great.

around here they charge 450 for the spray in and then another 100 to color match it. does anyone know anywhere around central IL that does spray in any cheaper?

I also considered last summer the idea of Line-x for my new Silverado. I liked Line-X much better than the Rhino product for several reasons. But then I started thinking I wanted my bed "not coated" - it was new and shiny and it would be covered with a hard tonneau. So Instead - I bought a really nice heavy flexible rubber bed mat WITH dimples underneath (very important to avoid moisture issues). I also bought a matching taligate mat which I caulked on with clear silicone caulk (vertical lines of caulk (again to allow moisture to not develop).

I then bought a fold-a-cover (hard folding tonneau). I researched a ton - and got a version II instead of the original version (improvements - much nicer). The hard locking cover I got - is very very secure - and is absolutely water tight and ice tight (in winter) - even driving on the highway in heavy rain. And by unscrewing two nuts I can completely remove the entire cover in less than 1 minute - then reinstall it in the same amount of time. Or for normal use - I can fold up 3 of the 4 panels and drive that way with big items - or I can open the front one for access that way. All aircraft aluminum and stainless steel construction. One piece of advice - if you go this route - I installed my own. I wanted to do it right - not just OK. Took me a total of about 5 or 6 hours. I used the included clamps etc. - but I also trimmed a couple brakcets and pop riveted a few also (a great thing to do - no shifting. End result - my cover operates smoothly, easily, just like a truck door. Do it right and you'll never have to do it again. Just my 2 cents.

I had to have a bed liner sprayed in on my truck. When I got it used back in March, the bed was all scratched up and the tops of the rails all had multiple holes, wer scratched pretty bad, and had bulges protruding upwards from where rails had been mounted. I got the dealer to get the Rhino sprayed in for an additional $300. According to the Rhino dealer's invoice, it would have cost me over $500 to get it done.

my 2 cents---

get to be friends with the linex guy, then get him to cut you a deal to spray it, i did that as soon as i moved here and got it sprayed twice as thick over the rails for 200 bucks or so.....

but with that said, i wouldnt mind paying full price for it on any other truck i may get in the future, it is well worth the money
