b16a2 vs b18b??? who wins..LOOK

Aight check it out, which would win? A b16a2 powered delsol with dc sports headers, tanabe exhaust, aem cai, or a 95 civic dx sedan with a b18b with the same i/h/e? be realistic now and please say why? I think that the b18b would take it off the line but the b16 will eat him in 2nd and 3rd gearz due to the 8200rpm redline w/vtec....Lets see what you've got to say.....

- i don't think the b18b would beat it off the line, or in the higher end. the b16a2 has 160hp then i/h/e, maybe 180hp at the most....the b18b has 140, give it the same 20ho, making 160hp...then factor in that the del sol is waay lighter than the sedan...

How do you figure the sedan would have the sol off the line? Very very doubtful

actually the delsol is 2412lbs same exact as a hb si "95", the 95 dx sedan is something like 2395lbs, plus the ls motor has 127lbs torque sotck. yes the b16 has 160hp but is does have only 111lbs torque, so I think off the line he will take me but in the end of 2nd and 3rd i will rape his azz and show him why he should have spent a little more and gotten a vtec motor.... muahahha, but i might be wrong.... lets get more opinions...

all the extra structure for the top. It weighs a lot. And also they don't handle as well as the hbs/coupes/and guess sedans too.

Why do you think people call del sols' DELslo....

Its probably going to end up being who is the better driver? but I'm kinda thinking that the B18b will win.

also, 127 is just peak torque. u really got to look at the powerband. the LS engine has its peak torque at an earlier RPM as the B16 has it in the high range. and yes, it's ever odd that the del sol is heavier than the sedan. it looks small cuz it's a two seater, but they are almost the same size.

I guarantee you will not RAPE HIM........I wouldn't be so cocky about having a VTEC sol against a lighter weight CHEAPER civic with a b18b.

And why should have gotten a VTEC motor? Maybe his plans are to get into low 13s...high 12s...all he has to do is throw a turbo on here is there. And probably would have only spend 1500 for the swap. Granted a B16a motor will always be faster in the end, but now are you going for 11s or 10s? I highly doubt it.

You could go to Ponderosa buffet and have the sedan heavier than the sol. Also consider that fat men slow down cars and I doubt each driver weighs the same.

B16A2 w/ DC 4-1 header has peak torque moved up to 5700rpm at VTEC engagement where B18B w/ DC 4-1 has torque peak same as stock (127lbft@5200). However, do consider that the B16's torque peaks and stays steady at around 120ish lbft from 5700 to 8000rpm where torque drops off on the B18B after peak hit because the motor begins to run out of air.

The b16 is gonna win because it has to shift less, has more usable torque, and has at least 20 more horsepower.

I'll let my 14 year old motor guru VTEC boi continue if he wants....

Yeah, like 16 ft-lbs isnt going to be a matter of differance... if you were talking B16a to H22a torque -- then yes, that would make all the differance in the world.... but you arent. Personally I would say it would be a good race... do it and find out :smoka:

I'm going to go off stock numbers.

B16A2 - 111lb/ft
B18B - 127lb/ft

It is a driver's race, but I'll go into more detail.

It all depends on the length of road you race on. The LS gear box offers taller gears - so if you're racing from a rolling start on the highway it has a small advantage. The simple fact that a B16A has the same ratios as an ITR gives it the ability to stay in its powerband at most of the time. Plus, torque is cool. But, wheelspin is a bitch.

Also, GSTeg. Your comparison of the size of the del Sol making it weigh as much as or more than the Civic is somewhat false. Jupiter is huge but if you put it on a scale it would weigh much less. Large mass does not equal large weight. And if you were going to look at the powerband, the B18B offers a much broader/smoother powerband. The fact that the B16A is sluggish below 5500 isn't so good. VTEC dip is something to look at as well.

It's a driver's race.

BTW I'm 14.

if you read my sig, it would say i'm the most knowledgeable 14 year old in the AUDIO FORUM. i don't see no other 14 years old in there, so i'm the only candidate. i know that the mass does not equal the weight. what i meant was looks can be deceiving.

this forum has really gone downhill since PH was gone. no wonder many people left.....oh well...i'll move on to a different forum.

For that reason, I am an asshole.

I'm being as sincere as I possibly can.

PH was my home. I love PH and visited everyday. I knew nearly everyone in the forums and no one made immature/stupid/F&F related/retarded/etc. posts. It was a great place to be.

Then we moved, and now I'm an asshole.

*And I did catch that, I apologize.
