just do a search for "MAF". Heres one link that came up. there were a couple more that had info pertaining to the MAF sensor/screen.

Re: descreening maf?

It means exactly what you asked. You simply remove the screen in from of the mass airflow sensor. I would not recommend doing this, the screen helps the flow of air to the resistors, not to mention a back up for any debris that might make it through the airbox.
Oh and once removed, unless you were very careful, it can not be put back in. These sensors run in the $400 range, if you happen to mess the sensor up.

Actually it's never been proven to hurt or help anything. I've had mine removed since '01, no problems.

My only point is that the resistors are not the toughest thing on these trucks.... If you happen to slip while taking the screen out, you just bought a new sensor. From what I hear, these trucks are all but driveable w/o the MAF sensor.

Also, you said it in your first sentence.... If you can't prove or notice that it actually helps, why risk the money....

heck, the AM sensors are just as expensive. But, yeah, I would probably buy one of them instead of OEM. Just not until mine actually failed....

Re: descreening maf?

I very seriously doubt you can gain any fraction of power by removing the screen. I removed mine before and about 3 months later the MAFS went bad, but i bought a re-man one for $135. I reccomend to just leave the screen alone.

Because when I did it, I was still relatively young, ignorant and stupid.
