Unhappy 1974 vette starting problem

Hi,
I've got a 1974 vete 350 automatic and I'm having starting problems every so often. What happens is when I turn the key it acts like the car is dead. Nothing happens then if I wait a few minutes it will crank slow then fast then slow but it eventually starts. I had the battery checked and it is a ok. This only happens every so often most of the time it starts fine (cranks over normally). Do you think it could be starter related? Any advise to help me resolve this problem will be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks

Jump start

If your charger has the ability to jump start the vette try that. If you can start it many times in a row with the jump on the battery then I'd guess your starter is going bad on you..... but then I only play a Dr. on TV.

Re: 1974 vette starting problem

..you could also just start with checking the amps at the battery side of the starter. If you get low amps than you may have some bad cables between the starter and battery...
