'90 325is computer back light out

The computer still works fine but you can hardly see the numbers. Is there a bulb to replace? Had the radio out for a look behind but couldn't see much. Even with the headlights/dashlights on, the computer is not illuminated anymore.

my dad owns a 86 635 with the same computer setup that is on your car, and im almost positive there is no replacement bulb. He has taken it to a guy who works solely on bmw and bmw race cars, and he said that will have to buy a new computer. you might want to check out a junkyard and see if they have one you could swap yours with.

Wink There are two lights in there

I discoverd this on my 91 318is so the computers may be different. There is one for the display and one for the buttons. My display light went out so I switched the display and the button lights. The length in the cable on mine was just long enough. Once the computer is almost out of the dash I could fit my finger in the release the cable on the back. The 9-button computer has a light bar available at www.bavarianautosport.com but where it goes I don’t know.
