a\c Clutch/ Low pressure switch

Have a 99 Cherokee has the right amount of freon 1.25 lbs and when i jump the cycling switch on the low side the clutch does not engage. But if i tap the clutch it kicks on and runs fine untill a/c is turned off.I plugged the switch back in. And the rpm increase but the clutch does not engage but once again if i just tap it it kicks on and runs fine untill shut down. Any Ideas??

My 88 does the same thing, although the clutch will run for about 15 minutes before stopping, at which time I have to tap it to get it going again. You may want to try shooting some lubricant into the clutch. If that doesn't work, you'll probably have to replace the clutch.

I have a 97 with similar problems....the connector to the clutch does not pass enough current....I have to keep "cleaning" it....(the connector that is)....should just solder it together.

On yours however, it could just be a sticking clutch..or too much air gap....

There are other forum questions on this...
