Any Smashing Pumpkins fans? I have Good News

Saw Billy at his release party for his new solo album, TheFutureEmbrace. Apparently, it's far more than a solo album.

In an 'Open Letter to the City of Chicago', which was published in the Sun Times and Tribune papers, here are his exact words:

"When I played the final Smashing Pumpkins show on the night of December 2, 2000, I walked off the Metro stage believing that I was forever leaving a piece of my life behind. I naively tried to start a new band, but found that my heart wasn't in it. I moved away to pursue a love that I once had but got lost. So I moved back home to heal what was broken in me, and to my surprise I found what I was looking for. I found that my heart is in Chicago, and that my heart is in The Smashing Pumpkins.

For a year now I have walked around with a secret, a secret I chose to keep. But now I want you to be among the first to know that I have made plans to renew and revive The Smashing Pumpkins. I want my band back, and my songs, and my dreams. In this desire I feel I have come home again.

'TheFutureEmbrace' represents a new beginning, not an ending. It picks up the thread of the as-yet-unfinished work and charter of The Smashing Pumpkins. I know this city gave me the gift of my music, and it is my honor to share this love that I have with you from the bottom of my heart. There is still so much work to do, and as always, so little time!"

When he publishes something in the two largest newspapers in a city and area of millions, and he signs his name with something he hasn't used in over 4 years since the band has broken up, I'm inclined to believe him.

Awesome, im a smashing pumpkins slut. Hell I even have the 4 track single Lull. Thats going back into pre Gish time. Now if it actually happens and everything turns out peachy, thats another story.

Well, Jimmy and Billy are really good friends so I don't see any problem getting Jimmy to join back. I doubt D'Arcy will be coming back, as she left the band even before Billy split everything up. But if Billy can get that girl who took D'Arcy's place during the tour, that would be just as good. Probably even better.

James is the hardest one to judge.. on the one hand, he really enjoys the Pumpkins. But he also has a commitment to his new band, APC. Who knows what he'll end up doing.

But if Billy can get Jimmy and that one chick back, and find a decent guitarist, I'll be into the new Pumpkins lineup.
