major fuse problem

My 2001 WB Venture has a lot of problems that all occurred around the same time. My passenger sliding door doesn't work any longer and it is hard to slide manually, radio doesn't work, vcp doesn't work, remote keyless entry doesn't work, driver information display lights up and initially gives information but then blanks out with a line of dashes, and lastly my rear parking sensor doesn't work. The fuse that controls a lot of these function (#29 under the hood) is blown and every time I try to replace it, it blows immediately on contact. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have four small children and desperately need these features. The kids can't even manipulate the passenger door so it is virtually useless. Thanks in advance!

You may wiring damage somewhere, shorting out the lines. This can cause the fuse to blow immediately like you describe.

My 98 had a similar problem.Symptoms as follows
1.Radio not working
2.Climate control stuck on recirculate
3.Remote not working
4.Fuse for radio blowing
Long story short,got to the right rear interior panel under which the actuator for the power door is.Remove panel and inspect wiring.My problem was in a loop that went through a 180 degree turn after it entered this area.It had chafed through several wires causing the above symptoms intermitently.
Next,carefully with insulated 5/16 wrench(Walmart sells good one) remove positive cable for battery and stow safely.
Inspect your wiring and replace damaged/chafed sections as required.
Reconnect battery cable,power door and remote may take awhile to reset and all should be well.
As a thought you may have the dual sliding doors so it might be necessary to check and repair both sides.

If you are having trouble finding the short, and you are good at wiring up stuff try replacing the fuse (or fusable link) with a lightbulb. The bulb will light, rather than a fuse blowing, showing that a short exists. You can then disconnect branches of the circuit until finding the branch that has the short. Then you can find the actual short. Usually its in a place where a wire or loom moves a lot (e.g. door), goes through sheetmetal (needs a grommit) or happens to pinch or chafe against something.

How easy was it and what steps did you take to get to this interior panel off where the rear actuator control module is? I have the part and are going to replace mine this weekend. Thanks.
