time for 6 bolt?
I experience clutch getting stuck on the floor. When i start the engine cold, i heard a grinding sound then goes away after u start it. The end play is around quarter of an inch.
If i were to fix it, do i have to just change the block with a 6bolt/1g block? I kno theres some modification needed to do that but can i just put a whole 1g engine and use 1g ECU? thanks! btw im new here, i got '97 eclipse GS-T |

Re: time for 6 bolt?
quarter inch, holy shit!
Odds are the block and crank are ruined with that much play. I wouldnt do a 1g ECU, I would just do the swap the usual way. You'll just have to do the baro wire mod to get around the potential RM CELs, which requires an AFC and logger.

ahh... so grab a 6bolt block and do some modifications for the water pump and mounting? That problem might be the wiring. Is it hard to swap 1g block? What is the problem with using the 1g ecu im just curious.

Re: time for 6 bolt?
This is all pretty well documented on www.magnusmotorsports.com and www.roadraceengineering.com. The only modification required is a cut in the drivers side motor mount to clear the 1g water pump, and the wiring for the 1g CAS. The 1g CAS in turn can cause Random Misfire CELs and a corresponding limp mode, which is taken care of by the baro wire mod as seen on magnus site. An AFC is required to get the airflow signal back in line.
Swapping to the 1g ECU would probably require swapping over all the other sensors as well, and the wiring harness/ECU connectors are very different. Hardly worth the effort. Also, in states that do emissions testing, having a non-OBD2 ecu in the car would pose a slight problem

ok. i kno about swapping 6bolt block but my dad has been telling me this.
"Just get 1g motor + ecu and install it." Hes telling me to just get a 1g JDM 4g63 with its ECU and install it instead of swapping blocks. Can u please enlighten me why this is not or is possible. |

Re: time for 6 bolt?
Installing the 1g ECU will require rewiring the harness using 1g ECU connectors. You simply can not plug a 1g ECU into a 2g car. Anything can be done, the question is why go through ridiculous amounts of effort to reinvent the wheel when this swap has been done the right way hundreds of times and has been well documented for your viewning pleasure?
