New project

Im sorry to announce but i have traded in the 94 sl2 :-( But the good news is, is that i bought an 02 sc2. I love it. Anyways, I was wondering if the the intake manifold from a 97 sl2 is compatable with the head on my car. I was planning on porting and polishing the head and intake manifold and then finishing it off with a 56mm throttle body. Would i have to alter anything? Such as throttle cable or anything?

Re: New project

if your gonna go that far into it with porting the heads and getting a bigger bored throttle body..id seriously say you shouldnt stop there.. why not a cold air or full 2 1/4" exhaust? as far as the intake manifold im about 80% sure that it wont fit.. my understanding is that that manifold is for a 95-99 s series..and you wont have to alter anything to do a throttle body..its just direct bolt on..i didnt even know that they made a 56 mm for saturns.. lemme know how it works out

Re: New project

here is the swap guide - http://www.turbosaturns.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2211

honistly, i don't trust it, there are a few things in there i know are wrong, but its ok for a general idea.

what i know(DOHC only)
91-94 intake manifolds interchange
95-early99 intake manifolds interchange
91-early99 intake manifold gaskets interchange
91-95 injectiors interchange
96-02 injectiors interchange
91-94 fuel rails interchange
95-97 fuel rails interchange
91-early99 throttle body gaskets interchange
91-95 throttle bodys interchange
96-97 throttle bodys interchange

also:
91-94 and 95-97 fuel rails mounting bolts are different
vaccum lines changed in 95(and some 94s), i assume the throttle body change in 96 relates to this

therefore i assume:
91-early99 intake manifolds are all compatible with all 91-early99 heads, however you should keep the injectiors with the year of your PCM, but the fuel rail with the year of the intake manifold
if you have a 94 with CA emissions(electronic EGR), the later throttle body MAY work(look closely at the vacuum ports). if your 94 has the vacuum EGR, the later throttle bodys will not work

Re: New project

sierrap615 : I dont have the 94 anymore haha. I have an 02 Sc2.

Anyways - updated plans:

Bored block - 20 over
cp pistons 8.5-1 compression (20 overbore)
crower rods
total seal rings
new rod and main bearings

That takes care of the bottom end - now for the head:

I want to purchase a 98 head so if anyone is selling one i am interested.
I am going to port and polish it and replace valves..ect.
Then i will finish it off with the 97 intake manifold i have and a bored throttle body.

Should be interesting. I will have a built block with the older, better flowing head along with a P & P intake mani. and throttle body. I dont have to worry about the injectors because i already have some 35lb. injectors for my turbo setup. My only question is, is if i have to make any changes with my throttle cable when i bolt on the new intake manifold because im sure most of us know that the older manifolds are alot different than the newer ones.

you may know to replace the throttle cable, i don't know the difference in lenght. adjustment is not required or possible.
