1995 Windstar Cruise

I just purchased a 1995 Windstar 3.8 with 72,000 miles. It had a few problems since it wasn't driven all that much that I have repaiared. The one I can't seem to fix it the cruise control, the owner's manual says that on startup I should see the cruise light on the dash. Well I don't see it and I have checked the switch on the bottom of the master cylinder (thanks to this website I foundout it had that). I even tried to put the cruise into self test that I found on another web site with no luck. I have checked the 2 fuses it list in the manual . If anyone knows of anything else to check please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Re: 1995 Windstar Cruise

Cruise control according to my owners manual only works above 45 MPH. Press the "on" button on the left to arm the thing. Press the right middle "Set Asl" button on the right to lock in your speed. If you don't know Ford's cryptic CC button sequences, I'll quote the book and elaborate. If the CC is just plain not working, . . . then details are very important.

Re: Re: 1995 Windstar Cruise

I have tried and tried again to get this thing to work. I have owned Fseries trucks, and Aerostars. I never had a problem with the cruise in the other fords I have owned. I am an electronics technician so this problem is really getting me going. I was going to check if I was getting voltage to the cruise module, but I can't seem to find my multimeter. I have checked the two cruise control fuses listed in the owner's manual, acctually I have checked all the fuses in the van before i misplaced my meter. I looked for a possible relay but have found none. I have looked for a Haynes manual but cant seem to find on around here. The Ford dealership here is of no help unless i pay them even though my father in law works there. Any help from anyone is greatly appreciated.

have you checked the brake pressure switch on the bottom of the master cylinder? THis is a common failure point in the speed control system.

Re: 1995 Windstar Cruise

Ok can someone tell me if I did this right. I disconnected the electrical plug at the pressure switch on the master cylinder, I then shorted the two connections on the plug together ( most switches supply a closed circuit if operating correctly and an open if there is a problem). I then got on the highway and still nothing. Thanks.
