99-00 Civic Cupholder slot..

You guys know how 96-98 civics have a single din radio slot... but also have that lower din slot by the cupholders?

Is there anyway to buy that piece.. and fit it into a 99-00 Civic?

Im planning on dropping the Alpine 7" Widescreen in there... custom molded of course.. I dont think it will "drop" right in haha..

So.. i need a spot for my CD player. And since the alpine 7893 has the angled faceplate.. HEY! Perfect.. might as well make use of it.. dropping it down to the cupholder din slot will be perfect.

So in conclusion..

the 96-98 cupholder/audio console thing WILL fit in a 99-00 Civic? Or they make specific ones for the 99-00 ?

u should already have the open din slot above the cupholders.dont u? u got any pics?what year is your car, ex dx or what 4 door or 2.i will try and find a pic for you.

here look at this and see that he used his lower din for the ps2 plugs and a inverter and he put his screen in the din below the stock cd player and he has another opening above the monitor?so what do u want to know?

well, i guess if its just sitting there playing nothing it would be OK, but whats the fun in that? because the screen is in the drivers frame of view, it could create a distraction.. i'm sure thats illegal in some way shape or form.. my buddy has a flip down screen installed in the front of his ceiling in his s10 and got pulled for it.. i think the lower DIN is a much safer place for it.. and if you have a tilt feature it's all good in case u can't see too well from the higher angle

the reason why the ceiling flip down tvs in mini vans are legal is because they are all behind the driver..so i'm just putting 2 and 2 together here

that's how mine was at first. worked out pretty well, but i needed a change after a while...but now i'm considering moving it back...mainly because it is too visible and i don't want my windows busted out while i sleep

...and just opening the cupholder really does just cover it up

later.

As far as I know....a TV of any kind can not be within the field of view of the driver.

if you check my other post it says that t.v's are illegal if they are in the view of the driver because it is a distraction to the driver.
