A/c

I have a 1996 Jetta Trek. The A/C needs to be re-charged and I don't know how much refridgerant it takes. Anybody know? And does all refridgerant work the same such as how cold it gets?

Last Saturday I did an A/C (flush, receiver/dryer and expansion valve replacement) job on a 96 Jetta GL 2.0L and the the system calls for 800 grams of refrigerant with 3.9 ounzes of PAG SP-10 oil. All refrigerant doesn't work the same as far as cooling. For example, R134A is slightly less efficient than R12, therefore R134A has slightly higher head pressures.
