Well, noticed engine started to overheat the other day. Climbed up a little beyond the marker when I came off highway and idled for a few minutes. Made sure fan was working. Needed some fluid so I put in some antifreeze 50/50 and filled up radiator. Took to my service guy and it turns out that the water pump that was replaced when I did my timing belt is leaking. Hence, new water pump after two years and about 27,000 miles (not a happy man). Since the coolant is probably all over the timing belt and since they'll be in that neck of the woods might as well get that done too again even though it only has 27,000 on it. Will be changing thermostat too and possibly main radiator hoses. Am going to use OEM parts except for hoses. Used a cheap waterpump rebuild kit. Long story short. $400+ Ouch!!!!!! Any ideas, suggestions, etc. I had waterpump done at my local station for $400 with timing and other belts, and antifreeze and a couple other incidentals 2 years ago. Hyundia wanted $700 for same thing. Looks like it will cost me $800. But anything could have happened in two years. I'm going to replace timing belt again while he's got it open in case any fluid got on it. Hoses and thermostat too. Just hope I don't need anything more anytime soon as I am broke. Reminds me of the Dave Chappelle scenario where he's talking to his son and explaining to him that he's broke. Worth getting a copy if you don't have it. Dave is a lot funnier than my car problems. All relative though. 5-1/2 years, the only thing to go wrong is a part that isn't a hyundai part. Getting the hyundai water pump this time round. Next Wednesday is the date set for the operation. Hope it goes well. Will keep all posted. By-the-by, had some dude looking for love in all the wrong places contact me about his car from this site??? Turns out he's looking for Mr. Goodbar not Mr. Goodwrench. Now I'm definitely a package deal folks but trust me I have no interest in this site except for helping and being helped with my car. My stick shift is still working and at 45 I got no complaints and can drive manual or automatic but not quite into the hybrid territory yet and if I ever do decide that that's in my future I'll spare y'all the details. lol Peace out.
