dumb but true question

I'm looking at buying a 99 amigo. I love it to death! and it sounds like a wonderful car! My problem is I've never driven nor looked at a 4wd car. Is the amigo 4wd all the time or just some of them? It has a button that says 4wd on it.... The guy at the dealership had no clue... :/ lol thanks for your time

Re: dumb but true question

Not a dumb question at all. SUV's are a lot different than cars and if a person has driven an SUV before, it can be confusing. It was for me when I got my Rodeo. There are also a lot of different 4x4 systems out there, so it is smart to ask.

The Amigo is part-time. The button you refer to is the button you would push when you need 4x4. It is key with these systems to only use the 4x4 when needed. Driving on dry pavement with the 4x4 engaged is bad for the system. Only use it for snow, off-roading or any situation that traction is a problem.

On a side note, it is sad that the salesman has no clue. Anyway, the Amigo is awesome, it is one of the first vehicles I have ever fallen in love with. I love my Rodeo, but if an Amigo was for sale when I bought it, things may have been different. Although I fell in love with the Rodeo shortly after the Amigo, so I am happy wityh my purchase. The only problem is I bought my Rodeo several years after I fell in love with it, but at least I have one now.

Any more questions, just ask. Also read through the forums and read the FAQ's.

Marc
