Me Vs 05 Mustang GT

coming home from cedar point sunday night (i got sunbruned to a crisp), im almost home driving on a street that alot of people like to cruise. I pull up to a stop light and see the oh so familiar head lights of a 05 GT coming up fast. He gets next to me at the light and its a kid i sometimes bullshit with about cars. Hes been in my car and knows what it is, so as soon as the light turns green he guns it, well he got a bit of a jump on me and i squealed way to long. Anyways i get next to him doing 40MPH, i say lets go on 3 honks. I start honking, i can hear his v8 starting to purr and he gets ready for the 3rd honk. 3rd honk we both take off exact same point, to my suprise im right with him dead even. And then to even more of my shock i start gaining on him, i inch and inch just abit, till im at his front bumper, then oops 80MPH comes and so does my 3rd gear. . .he walked me after that. So technically it was a lose, but i was still very pleased with how my little 4 banger inched on a 300HP V8 mustang GT. I think he was alittle mad that i kept up, because after that he just kept going. I was doing 60MPH in a 45 MPH trying to catch up, and i wasnt gaining on him, he would not slow down, even ran a solid yellow that i stopped at.

So im kinda happy, i know if i had a manual i might have held my ground a little better after 80MPH. Still fun times, ive wanted to run a 05 GT since they came out, i finally got my chance.

Not really, people are having a hard time getting them to break into the 13's at all, best i've seen one run is a 14.1 or somethin like that. Good loss Jay.

Re: Me Vs 05 Mustang GT

It will always depend on alot of things what a car will run, but they are definately well documented running mid to high 13's. I have seen them run low 14s too though.

Re: Me Vs 05 Mustang GT

I think i just depends on geographic location. Cause there have been many cases where a stock GT ran mid 13's.

Re: Me Vs 05 Mustang GT

Nice run dude.

So how's that auto tranny holding up to your power adder? I bet those bands and clutches are screaming for mercy by now. Maybe your next big upgrade could be a manual???

Re: Me Vs 05 Mustang GT

holds up just fine, the 4t40e transmission in my car is just about bullet proof, the only thing i need to worry about is the pump, its a little small.

Also The new GT mustangs running in the 13's yes i know its possible, but the one i saw running at the track was hitting 15.0. I think its really all about driver. A good driver can get a stock SRT4 into the high 13's. But most drivers manage a mid 14.
