fuel injectors

Does anyone know if there's a way to test if the fuel injectors are working on a 98 2.2? I'm hoping only one has gone bad and I want to see which one it is.

No I don't know which one is bad. If I did, I wouldn't be asking how to check. Also, I've checked every other component of the fuel system so I'm sure it's an injector problem.

Re: fuel injectors

Best way to check is to start the car, and with it running try loosening each injector, if its working it'll squirt gas out of the hole back at you after about a half turn or so.

Thanks for the idea but the problem is the car won't stay running. It's not getting enough fuel.

Re: fuel injectors

Well if it won't stay running then my best guess is that all of the injectors are shot, or the problem is somewhere else. It should be able to run on 3 of 4.

Ok, it would be a shame to have to replace them all though. They're fairly expensive. I checked all the other components though. Thanks.

Re: fuel injectors

your fuel line might be gloged it has hpened to me. take the fuel line of the front and the back and blow compresed air through it then if that dosnt work try the injector problem. or the fuel pump might be going bad and its not pumping like it should. or your fuel filter might be real cloged. many things you half to check on cars to get a fix on the problem. and thats just if its the fuel lines and such. tell me more once you check all that.

I've already replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, and fuel pressure regulator. Also, I removed the fuel line from the fuel pressure regulator and turned the key to the "on" position. When I did this fuel sprayed out for a brief moment. So I don't think there's a clog. Thanks for the thoughts.
