Re: burning smell?
Well I wouldn't say it's bad...but it isn't good. You are driving it hard, and that puts alot more wear and tear on your engine and tranny. As for the burning smell....there are billions of things in your car that can cause that. Unless you can locate the source of the smell, or see smoke (color and location) there isn't much we can help you with.

Re: burning smell?
yeah...and go ahead and use your power switch it's not gonna hurt anything. But DO NOT do neutral drops (put it in neutral, rev the gas, and put it in gear to try to do a burnout). My auto worked perfectly, did 3 neutral drops, just 3, and it was done the next morning...not to mention doing the neutral drop did nothing but give a small chirp cuz it just dropped the rpms before goin into gear.
oh yeah and how fast were u going, b/c I had a set of tires that whenever i did like 80-100 mph for a few miles, i'd get out and smell burning rubber. So could just be your tires overheating.

Re: burning smell?
ya, burning smell could be a LOT of things as Igovert said. it could be the smell of brake dust from hard braking at high speeds, could be the smell of oil if you have a valve cover seal leak, could be other things too. i get a similar burning smell when i drive her hard and shift in the upper rpm band. i'm not worried. but don't redline your car, you make max power at 6000 rpm, so no need to redline to 7,000.

Re: burning smell?
If you redline to 7k you'll be closer to 6k (max pwr) in the next gear, that's why you redline when racing.
