High Idle and rough shifting
here is the problem. I start my 2000 grand am and the idle speed is at about 1100 rpm, and it won't calm down at all. when I put it into gear, and whem it shifts gears, it does so very rough. a local shop told me that my throttle position sensor was bad and that would take care of the idle, but couldn't gaurentee that it would take care of the shifting problem. Any more ideas for me?

Re: High Idle and rough shifting
I thinking if the idle can be tamed, the shifting may be easier.

Re: High Idle and rough shifting
A few thoughts, guys, IAC {idle air control], Throttle body gunked, TPS is dirty, MAF sensor, clogged injectors [one of the most neglected parts of the engine]

good news, I found the answer for the idle and rough shifting
good news, I took my car to the shop, and I was having the rough shifting and high idle speed, and they told me that my throttle position sensor was bad, or acting up. so for about 150 dollars they replaced the part, and my car seems to be running fine. they also told me it wasn't a bad idea to get my tranny fluid flushed. good luck guys and let me know if it works out for you.
