The 2g turbo is a T25, or more commonly referred to as a T-toosmall.
The 1g turbo is a 14b MHI turbo which is larger than the T25 and considered a great upgrade for the 2g.
As far as the turbo blowing up, the guy is an idiot. Unless the wastegate of the turbo is welded shut, you will not blow up the car. The MBC is only used to RAISE the boost on the turbo.
