F-150 300cid 4speed help

HI everyone,

I just bought a "88" F-150 4x4 and had to replace the clutch. Well my buddy suggested since the truck main use will be for hunting and Fishing that i should go 1 or 2 steps above OE cause it will take a little more beating then the OE one would. So the i got is 1 1/2 steps above OE and i am experiencing some shuttering through all the gears. I thought it might be the engine missing but that doesn't seem to be the problem as the engine runs real smooth. It only seems to happen when i get close to or are at the Max RPMs before i have to switch gears. One thing i noticed is that it mainly starts to happen around 3000RPM's so in 4th thats about 65MPH. It doesn't always happen and does go away but will come back speradically.

What could cause this to happen? The clutch,Clutch plate, Throw out bearing, Fly wheel, Basically everything that comes in a clutch kit is new.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I would say that either the clutch disc or the pressure plate are out of balance.

Re: F-150 300cid 4speed help

Update I watch as close as i could today while i was driving and it appears to start happening at the 2500RPM mark.

If one or the other where out of balance wouldn't it do this all the time no matter what and just not run properly

Could this be a fuel delivery problem? I wonder and i will check this but could it possibly be the fuel filter being clogged but not enough to affect it at lower rpms since the demand isn't there this allowing it to operate fine?

Thanks,
Tim
