1995 Nissan 200SX SE-R

I need a second car (mainly FWD) since I can't drive my Z32 in the winter I've searched but there isn't that much info on the 200's. I know these come with the SR20DE engines (or am I incorrect?) oppose to the lower 1.6. How many miles do they go for if properly maintained? this one has 97k but I'm sure the SR20DE can handle a bit since mose Nissan engines can. I will be getting 25/30 mpg right? I've read somebody gets that when driving pretty hard but what would I get if I drove it in a mature manner? Are the clutch weak on these cars? I don't expect to be slipping often but don't want to keep changing it. Basically...look at this link and tell me if I'm so far so good lol. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...981&cardist=39

What are some known problems with these cars?
What should I ask/look for when viewing the car in person?

Thanks for the help and sorry for all the newbie questions. If you need any info on the Z32 (90-96 USDM) or the VG30DETT engine, I can help you there lol.

Good, car. Should last to about 250,000 to 300,000 miles no matter how hard you drive it. The clutches last a very long time(frequent slipping or not) as long as you're not carrying a ton of weight, like delivering phone books or something. Gas mileage will be pretty steady 25/32 as long as you don't redline every gear everytime you drive. Things to watch for would be the CV boots/joints and fuel system problems. Don't ever use a fuel injector cleaner and don't use Bosch spark plugs and all should be well. You're looking at a 0-60 time of 7.8 and a 16.0 quarter mile.

Re: 1995 Nissan 200SX SE-R

reallly.... i used fuel injector cleaner in my 1999 sentra and didnt notice any problems...
but yeah i tried bosch platinums and it ran kinda shitty
switched to NGK v-power coppers and it ran like a charm, just had to replace them a little more often. (i raced it so i didnt want to replace NGK-R platinums every 6 months or so)

Re: 1995 Nissan 200SX SE-R

It's not that the cleaner will create any noticable problems, it will just eat at the injector tips over time for regular use eventually changing the shape of the outlet, wasting fuel and making for a rough idle.

Re: 1995 Nissan 200SX SE-R

ooohhh ok
well i used it several times in the months after i bought the car, as it was my first car and i didnt know shit back then.
18 months and 64,000 miles later it still ran perfectly.
i dont use FI cleaner anymore, as i never really noticed a difference when i used it anyways

yeah, I guess nissan fuel injectors are supposed to be self-cleaning or something. I dunno. If you must clean them, use the sonic cleaning method.

Re: 1995 Nissan 200SX SE-R

Not too sure where it can be found, but I'm sure it's somewhere in your city. Just think of those toothbrush commercials where you see an electric toothbrush vibrating so fast that it knocks all the plaque off your teeth. I think it's some kind of wire that they stick in the injector and it vibrates incredibly fast so as to knock off all the junk and gunk. I personally have never had it done cause I just let my injectors go as long as they can and then just replace them.

Re: 1995 Nissan 200SX SE-R

so like a shop would do it then. i should ask around as to what tool they use and exactly how.
i usually upgrade my injectors before the stock ones die anyways but it would be nice to be able to clean them myself...

Re: 1995 Nissan 200SX SE-R

So I'm guessing that car I linked is a good buy? I'm not going to track it since that's why my Z32 is for. Thanks for the info and your help.
