89 Civic Hatch DX
As you know I've bought my 95 Accord a few months ago, and it runs perfect and awesome i love the car
I have relatives that came from columbia, and they're getting a place and they have no car so we decided to sell them the civic so he can make us payments on it for cheap, so he can get to work etc. Plus, it has oil on 2 of the spark plugs and the air doesn't work, but he was a mechanic in columbia and fixes those cars all the time so it'll be perfect for him to work on. Anywho, i'm sad that my sedan will be gone, i had so many plans ![]() Anyway, a friend at work is selling an 89 hatch dx for $750, and get this, it has 110,000 miles! I have yet to look at the car, but from what he says (and he's a trustworthy guy) it has no rust, but the air conditioning needs to be replaced so he doesn't really want to mess with it. My 90 has like 205,000 miles! The car has lots of life, and it's a manual transmission So it's a perfect candidate for an engine swap. And i don't know how to drive a manual - i know the steps and how to shift etc but i haven't had much practice only driven one a few times. The relatives are leaving the end of the month, so i'll have space to park it.Not for sure for sure if we'll be buying it, but for that price and that low miles, why not? Can't wait for another project car ^_^

Re: 89 Civic Hatch DX
Sounds good, at least your may be replacing your Civic with another. As for learning to drive stick, give this a try:
1. While in a flat open (preferable) parking lot start the car, push in the clutch, and put it in first. 2. SLOWLY lift your foot off the clutch WITHOUT touching the gas. Done right the car will get moving successfully. This serves two purposes. 1. You learn the feel of the clutch 2. You learn pedal control. If the clutch survives you'll be well on your way to driving stick. j/k GL Last edited by johnb16a2; 06-21-2005 at 08:17 AM. |

Re: 89 Civic Hatch DX
Thats no way to drive a manual, I learned on a strait 6 with a four speed. Thing has so much torque but didnt like to idle, you'd either kill it or sit there and smoke the tires all day... good times good times.

Re: 89 Civic Hatch DX
I have a friend that just learned to drive a stick in a civic. He then bought a 5 speed VW. The problem is that where first is on a civic reverse is on an old vdub. So he'll be sittin at a light and accidently put it in reverse. luckily he hasnt backed into anybody.

I learned how to drive manual in a Chevette and that sucked. Needless to say, the clutch was going out and it wouldn't idle right so I had to heel the brake toe the clutch and gas it to keep it going (carbed). That car was such a piece I got passed on the parkway by a car full of nuns cuz when I went over 55mph it crapped out...
