97 Grand Am blows fuse everytime i blow the horn

Another strange problem with my car that just started up in the last few weeks. Everytime i blow the horn, the 15A horn fuse blows and needs to be replaced. Any bright ideas with this one?

Some how you have developed a short in the wiring at or near the horn, everytime you hit the horn there is contact to a bare wire which is causing the fuse to blow. Unfortunatly I am not familiar with the removal of the horn/airbag assembly that will allow you to track down the culprit.

Hope this helped, good luck.

There is one other possible, the horn itself could have shorted out. Check by unplugging it, and run a+ and- lead off the battery to the horn terminals themselves, see if horn sounds healthy.

If so, then prob. is farther up, either a bare wire, or drain at the horn relay [which, sorry, not sure where the relay is located].

I would agree with Knifeblade.

If you have some spare fuses, unplug both horns and see if the fuse blows. If the fuse doesn't blow than one of your horns is shorted. Pkug one horn in and try again if the fuse blows than is your problem horn. If the fuse doesn't blow unplug the first horn and plug in the other horn. Fuse blows that's your problem.

The contact in the steering wheel is a ground circuit that provides a ground side path for your relay. This is a very little chance for a short there.

I forgot to ask...Do you happen to have the radio controls on the steering wheel?
