I lucked out

I lucked out big time this weekend. Lately I've been going against my own self and drinking and driving. I hate drinking and driving I've always been bothered by it and use to never have a drink if i knew i'd be driving. That brings me to this past Saturday.

Went out to a local pub in Houston. Baker Street to be exact if anyones from Houston and goes there. Had 2 Chimay Reds and a Corona. It doesnt take much for me to get a buzz. Didnt have a drink for about an hour before we left. But I still had a remaining buzz on the ride home. Turning left off of one of the main entrances to my parents neighborhood there's a little hump that's situated just right if you gun it coming out of the turn when the truck shifts(auto tranny) into second it'll it scratch the tires. Normally being observant I didnt realize that there was a cop car coming up behind me at the stop sign until I looked in my side view mirror and saw him abruptly turn to come after me.

He followed me for a short distance and turned his lights on. I pulled over immediately knowing i was busted. He asked me why i was driving the way i was and i quickly replied, "I was just being stupid sir". Having my license and registration out as he came to the window he took it and went to his car. He comes back and says, "Just try and keep it under 25." The whole ordeal took less than 3 minutes.

Reason I got off, because i was honest and admitted my stupidity and even moreso that my neighborhood is patroled by its own police force and my parents pay taxes which pay the cops. It pays to live in a neighborhood like that. Hopefully this will teach my ass a lesson to not drive like a retard and do stupid shit.

Re: I lucked out

I got pulled over drunk this time last year. I never admitted to drinking, took the field tests, refused the brethalyser and the 2 sheriffs were like "fine then we'll take your license for one year." I was like 'take it' and he goes 'alright, Matt. I'm just going to level with you. I'm not gonna take you to jail, I'm not gonna take your license, I'm not even gonna ticket you... I just want to prove to my rookie here that you're full of shit and you've been drinking.' I thought they were fucking with me so I made them show me if they had any in-car cameras. I seriously figured they'd show that as a laugh at the station or something. I blew .12 something and they had me call a friend to pick me up. They were really cool about it and we talked while we waited for my friend to show up. I haven't driven drunk since. Honestly, I really wish I could write those cops letters of appreciation. That was MORE than enough for me. lol when my friend comes to get me I hop in the car smiling. HE looks at me with these huge eyes (he'd gotten his license back from a DWI THREE DAYS BEFORE.) and goes "dude!! why'd you call me I am SO STONED right now..." Just let it be a scare lesson fro you.

Re: I lucked out

I figure most of us have all done it. Not proud of it one bit. I just give my friend my keys or bum a ride from someone else if I've been drinking. Most parties I goto are local so I can either walk home or just crash in my car and come home next morning.

Re: I lucked out

Yeah that was dumb but luckily no one got hurt and you didn't get screwed by that cop. Lesson learned?
