Best setup I can get for the money..?

I know this has probably been asked a billion times on this forum, so im sorry for doing it again..but

What is the best Amp/Subs set I can get for under 500ish dollars installed??

Kicker subs with Infinity Amp?

Also, I want to get a Keyless Entry/Security System for my civic(95 Civic Ex 2drcoupe) is This a good one??

I went to Circuit City yesterday and he recommenened the Infinity 7540A Model for 169.95. Is that a good deal? It is free Installation, but you have to buy the Power Kit(69.95) and the RCA Cables(39.95). Should I just buy the amp, and get the power kit/Cables on ebay or something and Have someone install it for me?? Thanks

Re: Best setup I can get for the money..?

Hornets (if memory serves right) are a good entry level, all in one type of system. In all honesty, if it's just a big huge siren with a plug on it that has a bunch of wires, I'd spend the extra money to get a more advanced system. Those all in one systems are too easy to by-pass by simply unpluging the fuse. The same company that makes that Hornet, also makes Viper and Sidewinder, both of which are excellent security systems. You may spend about 150 to 200 bucks for it, but it usually comes *with* installation, and it's well worth the extra money. As far as the best system for the money, it's all going to depend on your overall budget, and what you want to do. Just remember, you don't play the subs (per se), you play the enclosure that they're mounted in, and you want to make sure you've got plenty of amp to run them. L5's and L7's are nice and meaty, but they need a fair amount of power to run them. Mixing brands isn't a bad thing, either. You would be just fine running an infinity amp with kicker subs, or a kicker amp with fosgate subs, etc. It's all about matching the power handling of the subs, to the power output (RMS) of the amp.

Doubt you are going to find anything better for the price, unless you have hookups from a higher end store than circuit city. Oh yea, the amp kit is a complete kit to install the amp. No need to buy any extra wiring.

Re: Best setup I can get for the money..?

if you are limited to the 500ish budget then you should first decided what you want...system or security? obviously with the system first you are more vulnerable to theft. even though security systems are not a guarantee your car will not be broken into it is certainly a deterant to a theif who sees the blinking light and moves to a car without one.

tha being said, i know what a pain it can be waiting for a system. i got a security system then sound in my car and it was hard, but worth it to me in the long run.

as far as system recommendations...the one that gsteg suggested is probably your "best boom for your buck" heard many good things about the ID subs...i do not think you will be disappointed. if you have the chance listen to them before you buy that way you know what you're getting.
