Best shift kit ? how good are they ?

I was gonna get a shift kit for my thm350 trans on my camaro, but i dunno if they're any good or even worth putting on cuz ive never seen what they can do. Are they worth 30 bucks for a new one and if so, what is the best shift kit available ?

thanks

Re: Best shift kit ? how good are they ?

well its hard to say what just a shift kit would do for you. I had my entire tranny race prepped by my GM transmission specialist while i was working at the dealership. I dont trust myself to open up an automatic tranny and loose all the parts. My guy could pick up a ball bearing and tell you what kinda tranny it was from, it was scary. So for 200 bucks he did my tranny up right. Anyway, what i had done was as follows.

-B&M transkit, with all high performance clutches and band, with a stage II shift kit.

-Corvette 1st to 2nd Servo

-2600rpm Stall converter with a kevlar lockup clutch.

- I also told him to do whatever tricks he knew of that would make the tranny "better" although i dont know what those might have been.

I pulled and installed the tranny myself and after i put it in, i gotta say i was instantly impressed. It shifts shutter fast and creates a big stupid grin on my face

i got the B&M transkit from advanced auto for $405.00, the converter from a guy on ebay for $135.00, and the corvette servo for $16.00 on ebay. and then $200.00 for the labor my tranny guy did.
