93 cavalier wiper problems

I have a 93 cavalier and one day while using my wipers i shut my car off with the wipers 1/2 way up the windshield. Now every time i use them the only way to turn them off is to turn the key off. I am very annoyed i hope someone can help. thanks

Re: 93 cavalier wiper problems

I would think that the wiper control lever on the right side of your steering column is messed up. I can't be sure, but that is the first thing I would look at. You can find pretty decent parts on ebay or at local salvage yards.

Check the washer motor under the hood. Sometimes the points in them get stuck closed and they don't turn off. Take the black cover off and give it a shot of contact spray. If this doesn't work, you need a new washer motor, which contains the delay mechanism within it.
